Gather… connect, consume, change

We bring people together to connect, consume, challenge and change.

We make wine, gather people and ferment ideas.

Gather brings people together over wine and food. We provide a space to connect with new people and connect with new ideas. Through these connections, Gather supports people to bring about small changes, in their lives or in the world. We gather outside when we can, exploring our natural environment as we explore ourselves.

We gather around wine

Gather has the shared consumption of wine and food at its heart. We eat and drink together, and we make wine. Drinking wine is fun. It tastes delicious, it relaxes us. It also opens us up to new connections, with people, and between ideas. Eating food together helps us connect with one another, and with ourselves. It makes us feel content and makes us feel part of a community.

Gather is making wine in 2025. We’re fermenting small batches of intriguing wines from British grapes, and in so doing we’re creating a focus for bringing people together. Using Bacchus from Essex and Pinot Noir from Oxfordshire/Kent, we are excited to join the ferment of creativity that is taking place in the English wine scene.

We host Burning Issue dinners, bringing together small groups of people who bring something to drink and a burning issue to discuss. Sharing delicious food while debating difficult topics close to our hearts has resulted in intense and satisfying evenings, reminding us that new connection is always possible.

We’re developing plans for weekend and longer gatherings. Our dinners and VineWalks create connection, but having more time together will both deepen those connections and give greater space for personal reflection. We’re looking to host a New Year’s gathering in Sussex and a week centred around cooking, wine and olives in Croatia.

We gather with intent to connect

Our gatherings bring together people who don’t yet know each other. We recognise how difficult it can be to meet new people. And we find that for conversations to easily move to discussions of ideas rather than the everyday, a level of structure helps.

So our events are run with generous authority: sufficient guidance to get us together and get us going, sufficient flexibility to follow the joys of the day and the needs of the gathered. In each engagement we want to provide both safety and connections. We find that connections deepen in conditions of luxurious discomfort, in which we enjoy pleasures while slightly outside our comfort zone.

We gather people

We hold events that bring together lovely interesting people who don’t yet know each other, to connect, co-consume and think about change.

Our Vine Walks meet at a train station and walk or cycle between British vineyards, stopping to sample the local wines as we go. Rather than joining formal vineyard tours we enjoy the wine in the surrounding countryside. Our Vine Walks include a question to gently challenge our thinking and share ideas. We all contribute to a delicious shared lunch. The walks give us a chance to explore new parts of the country, walking 5km to 10km and stopping wherever local fruit (wild or cultivated) tempts us to pause. A few bottles of wine shared between four to eight people leaves us warmed but not intoxicated, and helps the creative conversation flow. Our Vine Walks have explored vineyards and wineries in

  • West Sussex (Nutbourne, Kinsbrook, Wiston)

  • London (Vagabound, Blackbook, London Cru, Renegade)

  • East Sussex (Court Garden, Ridgeview, Artlelium, Plumpton)

  • Gloucestershire (Three Choirs, Woodchester, Dryhill)

  • Kent (Simpsons, Chartham, Tadpole)

  • Essex (Clayhill by Blackbook and Vagabond, Gutter&Stars, Heretics)

Sussex/Kent borders, Oxfordshire and many more to come!

We are Gather

Gather emerged from two dreams: one of a vineyard on which to make wine and bring people together to discuss life’s challenges, another of creating social cohesion through coming together over food.

Gather is run by Dan Weinberg, a composer and sound producer, and Kathryn Tomlinson, a social impact leader. Dan and Kathryn met on a Spanish hillside, during a week of cooking and walking hosted by a very hospitable guesthouse and an ex-head chef of Moro. And the seeds of Gather were sown during a spring walk up a bare mountain, discussing the ‘sod it moments’ in which we had made personal change.
